One of my favorite beauty looks from #NYFW <\/span>came from<\/b> Suno\u2019s<\/a> Georgia O\u2019Keeffe inspired show. Maybelline<\/a> \u2013 perennial drugstore favorite \u2013 was used to create the pretty look that you <\/span>too<\/i> can simulate in no time<\/span> with just a quick trip to good ole\u2019 Duane Reade!<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Backstage I spoke with makeup artist Alice Lane<\/a>, who explained in detail how to get the look and taught me about why lipstick makes the best blush.<\/p>\n

\"Suno,\"Suno,<\/a>\"Suno,\u201cThe lip came from an error. I tried an orange shade (Maybelline Electric Orange 880<\/a>), and of course, with everything, it became too <\/b>orange. So we took it off, and the stain that it left behind was perfect. Cream based lipstick is very forgiving\u2026you apply it with varying levels of pressure<\/b>, and then if you get too much, you wipe it away and you have this stain. I am keeping it very matte, because I thought about Georgia in her garden in New Mexico, and it\u2019s<\/b> dry there, and everything else is very moist. So I wanted a matte mouth.<\/p>\n

I used a lipstick on the cheeks (Maybelline Red Revival 645<\/a>), because of its<\/b> creamy nature. It<\/b> looks like the color and texture<\/b> comes from within.<\/b> You just apply<\/b> the color<\/b> and it sticks. Cream lipsticks are better for the cheeks as opposed to sheers and shinier ones that would slide off, especially in the heat. But it\u2019s got to go on skin with very minimal base. I don\u2019t mind looking like a doll, but for this look, it\u2019s<\/b> about clean skin. But I think base is becoming so wonderful. I personally use Koh Gen Do<\/a>\u00a0[so do I!!!<\/a>], you use the tiniest amount and it perfect. It almost feels skincarey.<\/p>\n

The skin is done with Dream Pure BB Cream<\/a>, which is actually amazing<\/i>. At first I was like, \u2018where are the shades?\u2019 But for some reason it just knows. Maybe someone can explain it to me, but these 3 shades work perfectly on all the girls.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lipstick was used quite unexpectedly over at Peter Som<\/a>. A\u00a0sixties \u201cacid orange\u201d winged-eye was achieved by painting a brushstroke of Maybelline\u2019s Color Sensational Lipstick in Vibrant Mandarin<\/a> on the low lash line, starting at the inner corners.<\/p>\n
